Forget all the bad things I have said about Billy the Pik, he is really ok when you get to know him. Saw him last night and he has offered, OFFERED, to prepare a recording of SHOOS BLOOS BAND in about 1984 that I can send to Andy Schmidt, the owner of Sheabeens Irish Pub in Colorado. Do not mention anything to Andy, it will be a surprise.

Keep it dark and I will buy you a flashlight.

Been doing a wee bit of theiving during the dark time.

It’s an old Scottish Border custom called ‘Reiving’, and old habits die hard. No harm done (honest), I was stealing some snap shots from an old video tape shot by a friend years ago in the Shoos Bloos era. Billy the Pik is sporting a full, dark and curly beard at that time and Colin is fairly heavily hirsute as well. Will have to do some more reiving tonight to see what my appearance was like, I seem to recall a few whiskers around that time but, of course, mine would be more refined and distinguished, as you can probably imagine.

I need these antique pics for the final coupla pages of ‘My Rock ‘n Roll Daze’.

Later dudes.

I am sitting here putting finishing touches (you have to be a wee bit touched yourself to pretend to be a ‘writer’) to my current book, ‘My Rock ‘n Roll Daze’. I have just written about the time my band auditioned for the great BBC Corporation in April 1963. That’s 50 years ago! I am currently attempting to make an audio version of my first book, ‘My Army Daze’ (available on Amazon Kindle by the way). I am planning to offer the audio book to the drama dept. at BBC. Wee touch of the deja vous here, hope they don’t remember rejecting my band audition recording in April 1963. This could be my big chance at last. It may even impress Billy the Pik (gulp). This is heady stuff. Step aside, I want to get to the front!

Just heard my recorded voice for rehearsal of reading for audio version of My Army Daze. Sounds very Scottish (what a surprise!). Must work on my diction. But first! It’s a nice morning, I will take Bella the dug for walkies, then I will buckle down for some work. Later.

Success. The robins have taught their fledglings to fly. I got a real scary scolding yesterday. Even after I chased a prowling cat away! Not fair.

Can’t concentrate right now. Wee Robin in distress trying to get a fledgling airborne in the garden. It has been wittering about since twilight yesterday and is giving me hard looks this morning, I am only trying to help.

The text to go with this illustration is quite funny. It all happened a while ago and is mostly forgotten now. Not politically correct now though, damnit ! Eenie, meenie etc. I was just saying . . .

I have just received some artwork from Kenny Rowlands to include in my next book, My Rock ‘n Roll Daze. However, my text does not comply with the new, political thinking. Now wondering whether or not to include it, oh dear.

LISSEN.

There has been a wee bit of a hiatus recently (it’s from the latin, ya dozy bugger). However, the explanation is dull and boring and not worth mention.

‘I’m back in the saddle again,’ tumtetum, ‘I’m back in the saddle again’, tum te tum. I guess that wee song just reminds me of my time spent in the Wild West of Colorado. Don’t know why it reminds me of those years in the West, I was never on horse back over there. Could have made a good start to a story though. No time for singing sentimental songs right now, have to finish bashing my next book into shape. It is a Bank Holiday Weekend here in sunny Staffordshire. I should be planting my recent purchase of chili plants into pots this weekend before weeching them into the greenhouse where I hope they will once again be able to produce a good crop of chili pods for the pot if you know what I mean. THEN (and only then), I will march smartly back to my p.c., settle down with strong coffee brew and give my book, ‘My Rock ‘n Roll Daze’, a damn good bashing into some kinda shape. There will now be a short interval.
