#LISSEN.

Got out of bed to make an early start to drafting my next book, ‘My Colorado Daze’. I was so involved with this and it is pitch dark outside that I got scared and thought I was hearing voices. Forgot I had left the radio switched on. Sod this writing game, I am away back to my bed.

THE STRIPIES AND THE BLACKIES.

Don’t talk to me about missed opportunities in life. What about the time when I was a wee boy at Primary school in Penicuik, Scotland?  O.K. I will tell you. I was a quiet wee boy in class, bit of a dreamer probably but I was the first to discover the Stripies and the Blackies. Talk about missed opportunities?

During quiet moments in class I would draw little stick figures on a piece of paper. The Stripies had a couple of horizontal stripes across their chests (they were the goodies). I just shaded the Blackies in with my pencil (they were the baddies and I never wasted much time being artistic with them). These Blackies were a right bunch of bastards, real troublemakers. They were always hiding behind mountains to suddenly appear in large crowds to attack the Stripies who were invariably outnumbered. Luckily, the Stripies were cunning wee buggers, they would wave their little stick swords and get stuck into the Blackies till right prevailed and the surviving Baddies all ran away.

I was so engrossed with these skirmishes and failed to notice the other guys in class gathering behind me to look over my shoulder to see who was winning. It all came to a sudden end one day when the Stripies has managed to board a steam train to pursue the retreating Blackies, leaving lots of dead Blackies scattered about all over the place with little stick swords plunged into their disgusting little stick bodies. By now, I had introduced the sound effect of the steam train chuff, chuffing along a railroad line to chase the remaining Blackies and make sure that good triumphed over evil.

At this point I suddenly became aware the whole class had become silent. They were all frozen at their little desks staring intently in my direction to see whether the Stripies had managed to beat the dreaded Blackies. Unfortunately, the teacher was also engrossed with my story, my chuff, chuffing train impressions had attracted her attention as well.

My story telling was brought to an abrupt end at the age of six years. Who knows where my future as a storyteller would have taken me? I could have perhaps become a famous writer now relaxing on a warm tropical beach somewhere. Living on the profits from all the books what I had wrote. Life is so unfair #INNIT.

SHOOS BLOOS BAND (take #153 !).

SHOOS BLOOS BAND.
Colin is singing ‘SUFFER’. I grabbed this pic from an old video tape. Awfully clever you know. Not so clever when I tried to send it to Andy Schmidt in Colorado, made a right mess of it. Tries hard, could do better.

SHOOS BLOOS BAND

Close up of Billie the Pik showing him ‘pikin’ a great solo with THE SHOOS BLOOS BAND around 1985. I grabbed this pic from an old video tape, all by myself.
