The year was 1953, I was sixteen, bunch of us were camping at Sidcup, Kent, our first time in England. We gave Big Dem some money to purchase cider for us at the off license store. Big Dem was tall and a couple of years older than the rest, he managed to persuade the shop owner that he was old enough to purchase alcoholic drinks. The rest of us hid around a corner.

We all tore into the cider drinkiepoos back at the campground. Soon, a small crowd of campers gathered together to watch our antics. We were Scottish in a strange land, acting strangely. I had the bright idea to show the English campers how to put on a show. The theme was a Scottish style Highland Games. However, my memory gets a bit fuzzy about the rest of that afternoon. I only have this photo to show for all our effort. I seem to be half pissed wearing P.J’s and a kilt, do not remember any more. Oh dear.

#LISSEN. Its Bella the dancing dug.
Went for morning walk with Bella the dancing dug from Inverness. As usual, up pops the speeding squirrel. It takes off heading for tree with Bella in close pursuit. Its the same performance every morning. Bella almost, but not quite, catches up with squirrel. It took me ages to work out that she enjoys the daily chase but has no desire to actually catch the squirrel!

#LISSEN. Time marches on!

#LISSEN.

Time marches on, there is nothing I can do to stop it. I have decided to bend with the force and saunter on with it to see what happens. I was really surprised this week when I saw the heap of birthday greetings on fb from friends living in all parts of the world. I was touched – some people claim I have been a bit touched for years. However, time waits for neither man or dog. I have to take Bella the dancing dug from Inverness for a walk in the rain. Later dudes and dudines.  Image

#LISSEN. Oh dear. Billy the Pik (my now ex friend) has announced that he has cobbled something up from an old video of some middle aged rockers he found in the trash ( he found the video in the trash – the old rockers were lurking elsewhere). He wants to know what to do with it? Answers on a plain postcard please.

#LISSEN. A HAUNTING.

#LISSEN. A HAUNTING.

The haunted hut.
I had decided to have a week of solitude at our hut in the Scottish countryside. I settled down on a bunk bed for my first night alone but could not help thinking of another Wishart who had been captured long ago by the naughty Catholics at the old castle just a few hundred yards above the hut. That Wishart was dragged to St Andrews and burned at the stake. I fell asleep eventually but woke suddenly when the entire hut started to shake and throb violently. I was almost out of the door absolutely naked into the snow before I realised the vibration was caused by a large wooden windmill (see pic) attached to the hut. The wind had freshened during the night and the vanes that powered our basic electric supply started to spin. Sod that! Decided to hike back home again next morning.
